March 10th, 2010 by The Eldridge FamilyThis week’s menu
March 9th, 2010 by The Eldridge Family So have you ever gone grocery shopping when your starving?? Well I made the mistake of doing that today! I really wasn’t planning on getting that much at Kroger *SIGH* but alas I made the foolish mistake of being famished when entering a store with nothing but junk food (my biggest weakness) on sale. I also ran to Food City this week to pick up some meat and to get my Food City Kidz club coupons which now come out of the Catalina machine the first time you use your card in that particular month, and let me just tell you there are some goodies on there this time, free brownies, ice cream, and pears, I will get them next week though. So here is the breakdown:
Food City:
2 pkg of ground round 1.99/lb
1 3lb bag of apples 2.50
1 pkg of strawberries 1.88
Had a $2.00 off of a $20.00 purchase or more coupon, so I spent $18.50
Kroger:
1 Helluva good dip=FREE from becoming a fan on facebook
2 Pillsbury Biscuits 3.50 on sale 2/5.00 had 1/.75 off of two in store and 1/.75 off of two coupon from Shortcuts
4 Pringles 3.30 for all four on sale for 1.25 each had 1/1.00 off of four coupon and stacked it with 1/.35 off of one Kroger mailer coupon
1 Betty Crocker cookie mix .70 on sale for 1.50 had 1/.40 off coupon which they doubled
4 Barilla pastas 3.45 for all four, on sale for 1.00 each had 1/.55 off coupon which they doubled
2 Betty Crocker brownie mixes 2.50 for both on sale for 2.00 each had 1/.75 off of two coupon in store and 1/.75 off of two coupon from Shortcuts
2 Dawn dish detergents .99 each on sale for 1.99 had 2/.50 off coupons which they doubled
1 Yo-Plus yogurt .99 on sale for 1.99 had 1/1.00 off coupon
1 Dano-Yogurt 6-pk 1.19 regularly priced at 2.19 had 1/1.00 off coupon
1 Fiber one 90 calorie bar .79 on sale for 2.29 had 1/.50 off coupon in store which they doubled and 1/.40 off coupon from Cellfire
2 Chex Mix bars 1.29 each, on sale for 2.29 had 2/.50 off coupons
1 Nature Valley Granola bar .79 on sale for 2.29 had 1/.50 off coupon in store and 1/.40 off coupon from Cellfire
1 Nut Clusters, .29 on sale for 2.29 had 1/1.00 off coupon in store and 1/1.00 coupon from Shortcuts
Ok so here is the tricky part of this, I split up my transactions and did the Nature Valley stuff first and I got 1/1.00 off coupon (I had a 2.00 off coupon come out last week that I forgot to mention) the Catalina deal is as follows:
Buy 2 Nature Valley products get 1.00 off your next order
Buy 3 Nature Valley products get 2.00 off your next order
Buy 4 Nature Valley products get 3.00 off your next order Until 3/20
So I had 1/2.00 off coupon from last week and 1/1.00 off coupon from this week, and I spent out of pocket 42.00 at Kroger, John is getting milk at Weigel’s on his way home so that is 49.00 plus 18.50 at Food City is, oh my, 67.00! Over budget? I had four dollars leftover from last week, so yes, over budget! I will try to make up for it next week, I will NOT go to the store hungry again that’s for sure. With summer quickly approaching who knows what I will need to spend, we bike, swim and hike all summer long and when you burn those kind of calories you need to eat right? Just one side note too, Joshua ate four bowls of chili last week! Who knows, I will do my best to stick to budget that is why I blog, it helps me to stay focused and I need that especially when I go the store hungry huh? But even with hunger, God still is just so good to me, 3.00 over budget is not going to break our bank.
